Welcome to ASRM’s Advocacy in Action, where we give an overview of what our Government Affairs team has been working on, summarize relevant federal and state legislation, and highlight the advocacy and outreach efforts of our members. We are so thankful for the advocacy of our members; please get in touch with the Office of Public Affairs at publicaffairs@asrm.org for more information on ways to get involved.
- RESOLVE’s Federal Advocacy Day in partnership with ASRM took place on May 14. Thank you to the incredible ASRM members who spent the day in congressional meetings advocating for the protection of IVF nationwide! With 363 congressional meetings, 670 attendees, and 50 states and DC represented, voices and stories from the fertility community were heard.
- ASRM published a series of one pagers for lawmakers explaining and answering frequently asked questions about IVF. Read and share them here.
- ASRM filed an amicus brief in the Texas embryo ownership case Antoun v Antoun. A press release linking to the brief can be found here.
- ASRM provided comment on the newly introduced IVF Protection Act proposed by Sens. Cruz (R-TX) and Britt (R-AL). Read our opinion here.
- ASRM’s Government Affairs Manager Jessie Losch joined Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and New Jersey advocates to demand federal protections for abortion. Watch the event on Facebook Live.
- The Office of Public Affairs is collecting member stories to share with lawmakers, particularly about fertility patients receiving services not covered by their insurance. If you are willing to share your story about the effects of reproductive medicine restrictions, please fill out this form to share your experiences. We anticipate a Senate vote on IVF-related legislation in June, making your stories even more vital. We thank you for your advocacy.
