ASRM Reacts to Cruz/Britt OPED
Statement attributable to Sean Tipton, Chief Advocacy and Policy Officer
For Immediate Release
Washington, DC - “We are pleased to see Senators Cruz and Britt express their interest in protecting access to IVF. Like many other elected officials, the Senators clearly share the view of the American public that IVF is an essential medical treatment and must be protected.
Unfortunately, however, we cannot endorse the approach they take in their new bill. Threatening to cut off Medicaid funds will only punish vulnerable patients and do little to protect fertility care.
Rather than threaten access to other forms of health care in order to protect fertility care, we urge the Senators to support the bipartisan Access to Family Building Act.”
