Meet Emily Harris, PA-C, a Physician Associate Certified (PA-C) at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (SRM) in Seattle, WA. She earned her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR, in 2019. After graduating, Emily began her career in Los Angeles, CA, practicing addiction psychiatry in both outpatient and inpatient settings. In 2022, she relocated to Seattle and joined the SRM team, where she now provides comprehensive care  to a variety of patients including those seeking fertility treatment, fertility preservation, and gamete donation.

Two years ago, she joined ASRM to stay informed about the latest research and technology in reproductive medicine, enhance her patient care, and connect with a community dedicated to patients' best interests. She is currently an active member of ASRM and the Advanced Practice Provider Professional Group. One of Emily's most impactful memories as an ASRM member was the opportunity to speak in a webinar focused on the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in screening for mental health disorders during the gamete donor screening process. This experience resonated deeply with her passion for expanding knowledge and destigmatizing mental health disorders.

Conquer the fear of change and allow yourself to continue to be challenged.

When asked about career advice, Emily encouraged new members to explore the extensive CME resources and to take advantage of opportunities to learn from experts. She also suggests getting involved in research and considering presenting on a topic they are passionate about. Within her own career, she has found the most growth by stepping outside her comfort zone and pursuing areas of interest.

Emily finds that it can feel very defeating being a provider during a time where access to family building services and medically safe treatments are threatened or uncertain. Looking forward, she is ready to advocate for reproductive rights for everyone.
