Explore the ASRM EDGE tool for embryo grading. Learn grading steps, view dashboards, and assign blastocyst grades using the SART and Gardner scales in ASRM Academy.

Let's navigate around the Embryo Data Grading and Evaluation tool, or simplified as the EDGE tool. If you are on the ASRM website, click ASRM Academy from the ribbon at the top, and then from the drop-down menu, scroll to ASRM Academy on the go, and then click on ASRM EDGE tool. Welcome to the EDGE home page.

This page is a brief introduction to the tool. It has important information on why embryo grading is a problem, what the ASRM Academy EDGE tool offers, and links to the grading tool, a page that presents the grading scales, the interactive dashboard, and a link to registering or accessing the EDGE tool. The grading scales page has descriptions and parameters for grading blastocysts using the Gardener grading scale and the SART grading scale.

The interactive dashboard page, which may take a few minutes to load and is best viewed on a desktop or tablet, has the demographic dashboard with details of the number of reviewers grading the blastocysts, details about their job titles, a breakdown by reviewers experience and job title, familiarity with the Gardener and SART grading scales. Below the demographic dashboard are a couple of sample dashboards that are accessible only to registered users of the grading tool. This dashboard is specific to the blastocyst 1 grades and views.

This sample is for blastocyst 1, which has the SART grades followed by the grades for the Gardener grading system, the inner cell mass grade, and the grade for the trophectoderm. Now let's explore the grading tool. From any of the EDGE site pages, scroll down to the bottom to click on the learn more about the EDGE tool link to go to the registration page.

You can access this page from the EDGE home page and by clicking on the button. First time users will need to purchase the grading tool. Returning users can click on learn in the gray ribbon and click on my courses.

Enter your ASRM member login details and let's go. Welcome to ASRM Academy and the EDGE grading tool. On this tool, you will begin with a one-time activity as step one where you will fill out your ASRM membership ID, email address, and demographic details.

Steps two and three will be repeated per a user's preferences. In step two, the blastocysts can be graded and step three one can view a specific dashboard. There are 61 blastocyst images to grade and dashboards to view.

Let's begin with completing the get to know you form. With step one behind us, let's get started. The 61 blastocysts are cataloged in sets of 10 to help with smoother navigation and time to grade in smaller chunks.

Click on a set to begin grading. Take a look at the catalog and choose one to begin. Click grade to go to the blastocyst grading form.

The sign in activity is another one-time requirement per active session. Enter the email address registered with ASRM to begin. The grading form has some important navigation steps for each form.

To view a copy of your responses, click the option view accuracy after submitting the form. To view the dashboard, click the dashboard button on your right after submitting a response. Enter your ASRM membership ID.

This is required when grading each blastocyst to ensure that the grades assigned by users are captured accurately in the system. Note that each form has the image of the blastocyst and a short code assigned to each grading parameter. Here it's B2 since we are grading blastocyst 2. Based on the SART grading scale, assign a grade to this blastocyst image.

Choices are good, fair, and poor. Based on the Gardner grading scale, assign a grade to this B2 image. Choices are 1 through 6. Grade the inner cell mass.

Options are A, B, C. There is the option to choose NA or not applicable. And finally, grade the trophectoderm of B2 with a choice of A, B, C, or NA. Click submit.

Your responses are recorded. To view a copy of your responses, click the option view accuracy after submitting the form. To view the dashboard, click the dashboard button on your right after submitting a response.

Let's view the dashboard. Blastocyst 2 has a SART grade of good and a Gardner grade of 1BB. Hover over the bar graphs to view the count of reviewers.

Click the previous button to return to view the grades you assign B2 or click the next button to grade another blastocyst. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to grade or to view the blastocyst images and dashboards.
