Health care providers often find themselves faced with questions that need answers regarding poor or futile prognosis with fertility treatment. The questions include how disagreements between patients and practitioners over the utility of treatment should be managed; what are the conditions under which clinicians may refuse treatment based on predictions of remote success; and how to minimize confusion, impart bad news, and prevent clinician/patient conflict over usefulness of requested treatments.
