ASRM is responding to the current research crisis by launching a fundraising campaign that will: 

• Provide fast turnaround, competitive grants for researchers who have lost NIH or other government funding. The deadline to apply for the first cycle is October 10, 2025. 
• Increase the size of the ASRM Research Institute Endowment so that the next generation of scientists will have resources, no matter the political climate. 

 

The Fighting for Our Future: Rescuing Research Campaign has the dual focus of protecting vulnerable research studies today and increasing ASRM’s ability to fund research into the future.  

Government cuts have triggered a cascading crisis in reproductive science. Labs are shuttering, staff are being let go, and accomplished researchers are exiting the field. ASRM is committed to ensuring that research in reproductive science continues and research teams remain intact. 

ASRM is responding decisively by allocating $1 million of its reserves for grantmaking. "The ASRM Board of Directors recently allocated $1 million of ASRM's reserves for grantmaking, and each board member made a personal gift toward this urgent need." 

Beyond the emergency lies a significant opportunity to ensure the long-term success of reproductive science. Investing in the endowment will result in larger grants that can sustain labs and lead to cutting-edge discoveries.  

The Research Institute was founded by the ASRM Board of Directors with a $10 million infusion of funds. Since 2018, the fund has grown to $14 million through charitable donations and smart investing. Our goal is to increase the corpus to $20 million as quickly as possible. Investments in the ASRM Research Institute endowment will provide research funding into the future. The endowment is designed to sustain reproductive research indefinitely. This is accomplished through smart investing and the use of only the investment earnings. The ASRM Spending Policy determines the annual payout rate and protects the corpus.
