Physicians who provide care to women of reproductive age may receive questions regarding the influenza pandemic (swine flu -- an H1N1 Influenza A virus) and its effects on pregnancy.
Healthcare providers may wish to visit The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) web site providing
Interim Guidance for Pregnant Women and Swine Influenza: Considerations for Clinicians
(http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/clinician_pregnant.htm) to learn about the current CDC recommendations regarding the care of pregnant women with serious influenza infections.

For Physicians who Bill Patients:
Red Flags Rule Guidance Material Available - FTC voted to delay implementation to August 1.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continues to assert that it will
consider physicians who regularly bill their patients (including
co-payments and coinsurance) to be creditors who must develop and
implement written identity theft prevention and detection programs for
their practices by August 1, 2009, in order to be in compliance with
the FTC’s Red Flags (Rule). The American Medical Association and
many specialty and state societies strongly disagree with the FTC’s
broad interpretation of the term “creditor.” Efforts continue to
be made to delay the compliance deadline and to get FTC to re-publish
the Rule so that medicine will have an opportunity to explain why this
Rule is not applicable to physicians. In the interim, the AMA has
developed guidance material to help physicians comply with the Red
Flags Rule, which can be accessed on the AMA website at
http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/no-index/physician-resources/red-flags-rule.shtml

Women's Reproductive Health Research (WRHR) Career Development Program (K12)(RFA-HD-09-026)

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development

(FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development
(NICHD) and the Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) is to solicit applications to continue to support a national program of mentored institutional career development programs for junior faculty who have recently completed postgraduate clinical training in obstetrics and gynecology, and are committed to an independent research career in women's reproductive health. The supervised research training will assist junior faculty in their transition into productive, physician scientists in areas related to obstetrics and gynecology and its subspecialties.
The due date is July 28, 2009.
