Message from the
Chair
On behalf of Kathy Sharpe-Timms (chair-elect) and Dan Lebovic (vice-chair) I would like to welcome you back to our EndoSIG website. As promised, I hope that this site continues to provide a convenient mechanism to rapidly communicate new developments in the field of endometriosis and to apprise our members of upcoming conferences and funding opportunities.
EndoSIG was well represented at the annual ASRM meeting in October. We had a very active oral abstracts session on Tuesday and an Interactive Session, shared with the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, on Wednesday in which the effects of endometriosis on embryonic implantation were addressed. Presentations by Tommaso Falcone and me were given and a lively discussion ensued. I hope that you are all thinking about our activities at next years’ annual meeting in San Francisco. We invite the members to propose relevant Round Table topics or proposals for Interactive Sessions and submit those to Dan Lebovic (lebovic@med.umich.edu) within the next month (November).
The other news is that we’ve a draft copy of the report emanating from the "Art and Science of Endometriosis" consensus conference organized at the NIH last year by our colleagues Pam Stratton and Stephen Kennedy.
This paper presents proposed entry criteria and outcomes for investigation of endometriosis-related pain. I hope that all of you will read through this draft and provide to the authors, Pam (strattop@mail.nih.gov), Steve (stephen.kennedy@obs-gyn.ox.ac.uk) or Katy Vincent (katyvincent@doctors.org.uk), any feedback or suggestions that you have. This is an important step forward in an effort to develop more universal and consistent study criteria and ultimately will enhance patient care. Please join me in congratulating the authors on this important contribution and help them to finalize the most useful product for all of our benefit.
