Alan Penzias, M.D. Joins ASRM Board of Directors

Alan Penzias, M.D. will join the ASRM board of directors effective July 1, 2021 as director-at-large. Dr. Penzias is a reproductive endocrinologist at Boston IVF, Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the Fellowship program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

“We welcome Alan to our board of directors, and look forward to the leadership and medical expertise he brings,” said Hugh Taylor, M.D., president of ASRM. “Dr. Penzias has been part of the ASRM family, as he has served as an executive council member of SART, and currently serves as chair of the ASRM Practice Committee. Having him on our board further strengthens our commitment to advance the science and practice of reproductive medicine.”

Penzias is filling the vacancy left by Dr. Kurt Barnhart who is now the Editor of Fertility and Sterility.

Dr. Penzias is past president of the New England Fertility Society, a former associate editor and current member of the editorial board of Fertility and Sterility, F&S Reports, and Emeritus Editorial Board of Reproductive Biomedicine Online.

He obtained his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and his M.D. from the State University of New York. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, as well as a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Yale University School of Medicine.
