Advocacy in Action: December 2023
Date: December 05, 2023
Welcome to ASRM’s Advocacy in Action, where we give an overview of what our Government Affairs team has been working on, summarize relevant federal and state legislation, and highlight the advocacy and outreach efforts of our members. We are so thankful for the advocacy of our members; please get in touch with the Office of Public Affairs at email@example.com for more information on ways to get involved.
- We are thrilled to share that Ohioans turned out to vote YES on Issue 1, enshrining the right to reproductive care, including infertility, in the state constitution! In keeping with our previous advocacy, ASRM ran radio ads throughout the state, and ASRM members sent 500 postcards to Ohio voters urging them to vote yes.
- Dr. Paula Amato, Dr. Ginny Ryan, Dr. Albert Hsu, and Dr. Rachel Whynott attended the AMA’s House of Delegates meeting and were instrumental in passing ASRM’s resolution lifting the ban on sperm donation from men who have sex with men (MSM).
- ASRM joined State of Texas v. Zurawski, an amicus brief on behalf of Texas clinicians and patients who had been denied abortion care in tragic circumstances, asking for clarification of the scope of the "medical emergency" exceptions in Texas' abortion bans.
- Save the Date! The annual ASRM/RESOLVE Virtual Advocacy Day will be held on April 14, 2024. Details to come.
