Grand Rounds: Diagnosis of Androgen Disorders in the Hirsute Patient

(Credits no longer offered.)

Presented by Ricardo Azziz, M.D., MPH, Georgia Regents University

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has developed guidelines for learning for the subspecialty of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). These guidelines indicate that training in this subspecialty should include training in diagnosis of androgen disorders in the hirsute patient. This live internet activity is designed to provide such training to reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows as well as other practitioners of reproductive medicine. The activity will consist of a didactic presentation followed by a question and answer session.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Summarize and present the differential diagnosis of patients with hirsutism and/or virilism.
  2. Formulate a therapeutic scheme and interpret the necessary diagnostic testing in patients with hirsutism and/or virilism.
  3. Counsel patients with hirsutism and/or virilism regarding their treatment options and prognosis.
