Grand Rounds: Contraception for Women with Medical Conditions

(Credits no longer offered.)

Presented by Lisa B. Haddad, M.D., Emory University School of Medicine

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has developed guidelines for learning for the subspecialty of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). These guidelines specify that training should include information that provides the fellow with the ability to be familiar with the principles and methods of contraception and able to select the most appropriate method for a high-risk patient. This internet activity is designed to provide such training to reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows as well as other practitioners of reproductive medicine.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Identify the effectiveness, risks and benefits of different contraceptive methods.
  2. Discuss the United States Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use.
  3. Describe guidelines to approach clinical cases of women with chronic medical conditions.
