(Credits no longer offered.)

Presented by Staci E. Pollack, M.D., Albert Einstein College of Medicine

The American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology has developed guidelines for learning for the subspecialty of reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI). These guidelines specify that training in this subspecialty should include training concerning Amenorrhea. This live internet activity is designed to provide such training to reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellows as well as other practitioners of reproductive medicine. The activity will consist of a didactic presentation followed by a question and answer session.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
  1. Describe what constitutes a menstrual disorder.
  2. Define oligomenorrhea, primary and secondary amenorrhea, and ovarian failure (ovarian insufficiency).
  3. Determine, in a systematic way, the possible cause for a menstrual disorder.
  4. Classify menstrual disorders according to accepted paradigms into categories, such as hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and hypergonadotropic hypogonadism.
