The ‘Red’ Journal Goes ‘Green’

Q. Why is the ‘Red’ journal going ‘Green’?
A. ASRM continues to reduce its environmental footprint by digitizing letters, membership materials, and meeting materials that can be distributed and viewed online.

Some benefits of this transition include:
  1. lowering our environmental impact, reducing CO2 emissions which contribute to climate change, and
  2. making the journals more interactive, and easily accessible from personal devices.
We hope to offer members many more valuable, accessible, and socially responsible benefits in the coming year. A rough calculation indicates that if all print Fertility and Sterility subscriptions moved to the online-only version, we would save over 2,200 trees yearly.
Q. How does the “green” transition change my membership benefits?

A. If you are a Doctoral member renewing on or after January 1, 2021, your print subscription to Fertility and Sterility will automatically convert to an online-only subscription unless you choose to pay an additional charge to receive the print subscription.

If you are an Allied Health or Associate member receiving online-only access to Fertility and Sterility, your membership benefits will not change. You can, however, choose to pay an additional charge to receive the print subscription.

Q. If I am a Doctoral member renewing now, when will I lose my print subscription to Fertility and Sterility?

A. If your Doctoral membership renews before January 1st, you will continue to receive the print subscription until the beginning of your next membership cycle unless you request that your membership be converted to online-only access after January 1st (see below). For example, if your Doctoral membership cycle begins on October 1, 2020, you will continue receiving the print subscription until September 30, 2021. Your membership cycle beginning October 1, 2021 will automatically convert to a digital subscription unless you choose to pay an additional charge to receive the print subscription.

Q. What will be the extra charge for a print subscription to Fertility and Sterility be on and after January 1, 2021?

A. On and after January 1, 2021 members who want to continue to receive a print subscription to Fertility and Sterility may choose to pay an additional charge to receive the print subscription. Effective November 1, 2021, the additional fee for a print subscription will be $125 for all member types.

Q. Will the price of membership change with the transition to a digital Fertility and Sterility subscription?

A. Membership dues will remain the same for all member categories whose benefits already include an online subscription to Fertility and Sterility and other Society journals. On and after January 1, 2021, at the time of join or renewal, members will have the option of choosing to pay an additional charge to receive the print subscription by selecting the appropriate membership category with the print journal option.

Q. My membership renews before January 1, 2021. Can I renew now and receive the online-only subscription to the journal with my membership?

A. For Doctoral members, if you renew your membership before January 1st you will continue to receive the print subscription to Fertility and Sterility until the next time your membership renews, at which time it will renew to an online-only subscription by default. If you renew your membership before January 1, 2021 and would like to convert to an online-only subscription please contact ASRM Member Services at membership@asrm.org.

Allied Health and Associate members already have the option of an online-only journal subscription. However, if you are an Allied Health or Associate member and your membership is currently configured to receive the print journal and you would like to transfer to online-only subscription, please contact ASRM Member Services at membership@asrm.org.
