Semen analysis and thaw code
When we thaw such a sample, we determine if the tissue contains motile sperm. We feel that it is not appropriate to use a code for sperm identification and isolation from testicular tissue (89264) since this part of the work was completed in another establishment. However, there is work involved in identifying the presence and absence of motile sperm in these frozen-thawed samples, and again, we feel that the use of a simple sperm identification code (89300 if applicable) is justified.
