Richard Reindollar, MD, to Head American Society for Reproductive Medicine

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the nation’s leading organization for professionals involved in the field, today announced that Richard Reindollar, MD, will become the group’s Executive Director effective January 1, 2014.

Dr. Reindollar is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Prior to moving to Dartmouth in 2005, he served in faculty positions at Harvard (1997-2006), Tufts (1987-1996) and the Medical College of Georgia (1981-1986).  Dr. Reindollar received his BS from Lenoir Rhyne College, and his MD from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest.  He completed his OB/GYN residency at York Hospital in York, PA, and his Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Genetics at the Medical College of Georgia. He is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology, and Clinical Genetics.

With over a hundred academic publications and presentations, Dr. Reindollar is a noted expert in the clinical management of infertility and other disorders of the reproductive system and the genetic and molecular aspects of reproductive disorders.  He was the principal investigator for two major NIH-funded clinical trials that have impacted infertility therapy.

Currently the President-elect of ASRM, Dr. Reindollar will become President as scheduled in October and resign his presidency when he becomes Executive Director in 2014. Rebecca Sokol, M.D., M.P.H., will serve as President-elect and Acting President from January 2014, until she assumes the ASRM Presidency as scheduled in October of 2014.

Dr. Reindollar has been an active leader in professional organizations throughout his career. He was a Charter Member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology for which he served as president.  He is a current member of many groups, including the American Medical Association, the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society, the Society for Gynecological Investigation and the American Society of Human Genetics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American College of Medical Genetics. His service to ASRM dates back to 1987 when he served as the Coordinating Chair for the Annual Meeting Postgraduate Program for the American Fertility Society. He has served in numerous capacities since, including President of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Member of the ASRM Board of Directors, Chair of the Finance Committee, Vice President, and currently President-Elect.

Linda C. Giudice, MD, PhD, President of the ASRM and Chair of the Search Committee, said, “We are thrilled to be bringing in a leader of Dr. Reindollar’s caliber. The Search Committee and Board of Directors have selected a truly outstanding individual to serve as the next ASRM Executive Director. I have known Richard well for several years and anticipate a very orderly transition in our office.”

Richard H. Reindollar had this to say, “I am very pleased to have been asked to serve in this very important role. His leadership during his more than decade of service to ASRM has set an extraordinary example for me to follow. I look forward to working with my new colleagues on the ASRM staff on behalf of all our members and their patients.”
