Association of Reproductive Managers Special Interest Group Launches Practice Management Mentoring Program
Mentor (men’tor’) n. A Wise and Trusted Teacher
ARM’s mission is to advance the art and science of fertility practice management through leadership, research, and education. Nowhere, perhaps, is this mission better exemplified than in ARM’s
Mentoring Program. With more than 350 fertility practices now operating in the U.S. and Canada, administrative activities are likely performed across a wide spectrum of responsibility—from managing basic solo practices to large-scale programs, and from offering fundamental services to cutting-edge advanced technologies. Notwithstanding this diversity, we all have something we can learn from each other. ARM’s multi-faceted
Mentoring Program provides a unique opportunity to enhance the individual administrator’s management repertoire, and thereby, the body of knowledge as a whole.
Experienced fertility practice managers who are willing to share their time and knowledge with others in the field have been identified as ARM Mentors in one or more self-designated areas of expertise. These experts have agreed to make themselves reasonably available to answer questions and/or provide coaching to those less knowledgeable in the particular subject matter. In some cases, observation of the “expert in operation” may be feasible. More often, however, e-mail correspondence will be used to expedite communication while avoiding excessive and/or lengthy telephone calls.
Additionally, ARM’s Internet Forum offers a venue for the open discussion of a wide range of topics, for example coding, salary guidelines, contracting strategies, selection of software, etc.—any matter of current concern or interest. The site is accessible to registered participants who may pose questions or solicit viewpoints from other fertility managers and programs.
