About the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons
The Society of Gynecologic Surgeons had its initial annual scientific meeting in 1974. The stated mission of the Society is “to promote the highest standards for gynecologic surgical care for women in a safe, effective and ethical manner through:

  • promoting the acquisition of knowledge and the improvement of skills in gynecologic surgery,

  • enhancing the understanding of gynecology and gynecologic surgery through basic and clinical research, and

  • serving as a source of public and professional information."

The SGS Postgraduate Course in Advanced Gynecologic Surgery was created by Dr. James L. Breen in 1991. This course is taught by outstanding surgeons and educators who are all members of the Society and dedicated to its principles.
