The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) today announced that Robert W. Rebar, MD, Executive Director of the Society since 2003, has announced his retirement, effective January 1, 2014.
Dr. Rebar, an ASRM member since 1979, joined the staff of ASRM in 2000 in the role of Medical Director. In January 2003, Dr. Rebar became the Society’s Executive Director. Earlier in his career, Dr. Rebar served as Chair of the Department of OB-GYN at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. He holds BS and MD degrees from the University of Michigan.
ASRM is a global society with more than 8000 members in over 116 countries and in all 50 states. With an annual operating budget of more than $8 million, the Society has 33 staff in its headquarters in Birmingham, AL, and another four in Washington, DC.
“We want to thank Dr. Rebar for his exemplary service to our organization,” said Linda Giudice, MD, PhD, President of ASRM, “He has helped build ASRM into a 21st Century organization, one poised to serve our members and their patients, as we strive to improve reproductive medicine worldwide.”
The ASRM Board of Directors will commence a formal search process to find a new Executive Director, expected to be in place by January 2014.
